FNA Mapping Comparative Study

This January, a comparative study on FNA Mapping and micro-TESE was been published for the first time in the world by the prestigious University of Washington in the United States.

A paper from the Urology Department of the University of Washington in the U.S. has presented a comparison of the outcomes of micro-TESE and FNA Mapping. The study demonstrated a high predictive accuracy (56.7%) and reliability using FNA Mapping for sperm retrieval.

According to the paper, the invasive procedure of micro-TESE, which involves extensive testicular dissection, was only necessary in 35.5% of cases among non-obstructive azoospermia patients where sperm was successfully retrieved. In 64.5% of cases, sperm could be retrieved using other non-invasive methods. Moreover, FNA Mapping yielded higher pregnancy rates and live birth rates compared to micro-TESE.

A review discussing the comparison between FNA Mapping and micro-TESE has also been accepted for publication in an international journal. We will share it as soon as it is published.
